Well, another November is about to end, and for the second time, I've managed to get to the 50,000 word mark for NaNoWriMo. My final word count is 53,305, and I finished a day early and just wrote those last 3,000 words today. So I'm proud of myself, because even though I finished a day early, I didn't just stop writing. Hopefully this will be the beginning of a good habit of writing something every day.

Congratulations to everyone who made it to 50,000, and to everyone who's still trying to get there! It's an incredible thing, to try to write 50,000 words in a month, and no matter how far you get, you've still written words that have never been written before, and that's a good thing.

Goodnight, everyone.

This morning I was watching one of those morning news shows (I can never remember which one is which), and Claire Danes and Zac Efron were on promoting their new movie, "Me and Orson Welles". Thankfully I've never had to see High School Musical, but I do know Zac Efron from his first ever acting role, as young Simon Tam in Firefly.

Anyway, during the interview, they showed a clip from "Me and Orson Welles", and Zac was looking very Simon-like, with his hair all combed down. And he even did this funny little ear-rubbing thing that reminded me of Simon.

So I guess they did a pretty good job of choosing a young Simon after all.

Okay, so I came up with the best way to stop the apocalypse on Supernatural, right? Sam says "Yes" to Lucifer, and as Lucifer's doing some wacky ritual to transfer his essence over to the body of Sam Winchester, an army of fanboys all rush in, all cosplaying as Sam and stand in front of him. And then Lucifer's demony essence goes into a fanboy's body instead, and a fanboy dies saving the world. And then Sam and Dean walk off into the sunset, happily ever after. What do you think? :D

Also, spoilers for last night's episode (and the one before that... and the one before that), under the cut.

Big Damn Apocalypse: DO NOT WANT. )

1.) I am almost, almost caught up on my NaNoWriMo wordcount after having been behind since the 4th. Right now I'm at 24,648.

2.) Word wars are the most awesome thing ever. I did three ten-minute ones tonight, and got over 1,600 words written. That totally rocks.

3.) John Barrowman dancing to "Single Ladies". I have watched this so many time since [info]copperbadge posted this on his LJ, it's ridiculous.

Um... 4!) I watched Doctor Who: The Waters of Mars today. More to follow on that later.

I miss Michael Kors...

Project Runway this season is good, but man, I miss Michael Kors and Nina Garcia. Now they've got all these guest judges all the time and it's just not right. Also? I hate Nicholas and his I'm-better-than-everyone attitude and his stupid sci-fi Ice Queen costume/dress thing. I want Ra'mon to come back. *sniff* Even if his green alien outfit looked even weirder than the Ice Queen. Ah well...

Speaking of clothes, why is it so impossible to find clothes that I like? Right now I have exactly one t-shirt that I'm guaranteed to be happy with 100% of the time. All of my other clothes, though? If I'm having a bad clothing day, I hate everything else in my closet.

I was walking around the mall yesterday and realized that I like all of the guy clothes much more than any of the girl clothes, which is difficult when I'm supposed to be buying girl clothes and can't find anything that I really want to wear.

*sigh* Life is hard.

So last night in my dream I was checking my Grandma's mailbox, and in everyone's mail there was a Supernatural comic. And attached to that was, "Would you like to meet the actors? Come to the movie theater today!" So what do I do? I rush down to the movie theater, and there they are, signing autographs. I couldn't stay and get anything signed because I had to go babysit (thanks, real life), but I hopped up on a ledge and was watching for a little while. And they were so pretty. Only Jared had cut his hair kinda short, so I was all "OH NOES SAMMY YOUR HAIR!", and Jensen was looking kind of scruffy, handsomely scruffy, but not exactly Dean. But man, that was an awesome dream. Can I go back to sleep and have some more? :D

I wrote a fic! And I'm posting it! I think this is probably only the second time I've ever posted a fic, but hopefully I'll post many more after this. So here it is:

Title: To Sam Winchester, C/O Brenda
Series: Supernatural
Rating: PG, for one naughty word
Words: 730
Beta'ed by: [info]callmeliterator
Summary: Sam Winchester is sixteen, pissed off, and hates running errands.

Sam woke up as the car stopped and he heard the engine shut off... )

Last night I dreamed that I owned the Impala. Man, that was awesome. I also dreamed that I was living with a bunch of homeless people inside this old train tunnel that somehow had bedrooms in it, and there were bookshelves full of cheap romance novels, and lots of really pretty paths through the woods that led to the tunnel place. But really? I owned the Metallicar. *sigh...*

In the hopes of getting my number of open tabs down to a manageable size, I'm posting some fic recs!

Okay, the first isn't a fic, but a comic based off of a fic: The Epic Love Story of Jared and Jensen. I love the style of it, and there are 48 pages so far, but it's updated kind of sporadically.

SPN Ficlet: Can't (But I Can)
Summary: Just because you can’t hear, doesn’t mean you can’t. Sam has always been deaf and Dean has always been a little stupid.

And here are a couple of its sequel fics.

Deaf!Jared now, with Sound of Settling.
Summary: Jared’s lost, Jensen’s barely hanging on, and the bottom line is that everything has changed.

This one also has several sequel fics that are quite good.

Can you tell I've had a reading theme the past few days?

There's also Stopframe, which is still a WIP.
Summary: Jensen is a Pixar animator spending his life in a daze. Jared is a special young man that worms his way into Jensen's life. That's when Jensen realizes he doesn’t need a normal life. He just needs Jared.
Notes: Mentally disabled!Jared and caretaker!Jensen. Not your thing, stay away!

Anyway, that's about it for now. Enjoy!

So, first of all, I went to see Julie & Julia tonight. Really good movie. Having not had a lot of previous exposure to Julia Child, though, I will forever think of her as Meryl Streep. Now I'm interested in reading the book by Julie Powell that the movie was based on, and I find myself wishing that my own blog had more substance to it... Working on that.

Also? Amy Adams is adorable. (And ohmigod, she's Cousin Beth! From "Family" in season 5 of Buffy. I totally never made that connection. That's hilarious!)

Anyway, back to talking about writing, I recently came up with what I think is a brilliant way to make myself write. See, one of my biggest problems, and possibly the reason I write fanfiction more often than original fic, is that I can never seem to come up with characters that I like writing. I think part of it is that I overanalyze them, and I can't just start writing them until I feel like I know everything about them, which is never going to happen.

So in an effort to give myself some boundaries to work within, I've given myself a time limit to creating a character. What I do is put my iPod on random and start writing a scene, sometimes inspired by the music, sometimes not. And when the song is over, I immediately switch to writing a completely new story with new characters. It seems to be working well so far, and I've actually found one or two characters that I might like to continue writing about. It also helps with the word count if I can make myself keep going for a bit. Sunday night I wrote about a thousand words.

Anyway, it's getting late and I'm about to crash, so I think I'll leave it at that. Goodnight. :D

So I'm rewatching the season 4 SPN episode with the sirens, and I just finished the scene where the FBI agent gets told off by Bobby on the phone. And I just now noticed the five different federal agency phones Bobby has, and burst out laughing. God, I love Bobby.

So I'm back from my mini-vacation to Baltimore. It was pretty awesome. Relaxing and fun and all that jazz. I spent all of the car trips listening to podfics by [info]juice817, which I highly recommend. I listened to Common Knowledge, Sam Winchester and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, and part of Somersault, which are all awesome fics.

Friday we spent in the Inner Harbor area of downtown Baltimore. Ate at Johnny Rocket's (always nummy), rode around in the water taxis, and visited Fells Point -- very cool area with an old town feel and an awesome music store called The Sound Garden. We also went to Geppi's Entertainment Museum, which was so cool. It's all entertainment and pop culture stuff, dating back from the late 1800's to the present, apparently all from this guy's personal collection of stuff. My favorite rooms were the ones about more recent pop culture - they had a bunch of Star Wars, Star Trek, Batman, Indy, Beatles, all the stuff I liked. Saw some Ninja Turtle action figures that I think I had when I was a kid, which was a very odd experience. For the whole last half of the museum, I was grinning so much that my face actually hurt by the time we left. Also, if you go on a day when there's a baseball game going on, because it's right next to the stadium, admission's only a dollar per person, which was a great deal.

Saturday, we went to the Baltimore Zoo and saw the polar bears and the African animals. Nice place, but I'd recommend going on a day when it's not excruciatingly hot, because we didn't stay that long. It's a nice zoo, though. By far the most awesome part of the day, though, was going to Medieval Times, a themed restaurant where you're seated around an arena and there's a medieval show put on, complete with jousting and sword fights. (And you get to eat with your hands! Save room for the roasted potato - it's yummy.) They give each guest a crown to wear, and you cheer for the knight who represents your color. Ours was the Yellow Knight, and he ended up winning the competition. Hooray! Afterwards, we walked around the mall that Medieval Times is connected to for a little bit, and I played Eye of the Tiger on Rock Band 2 in Best Buy. :D

Got home Sunday and had to go straight to work, so I was pretty tired last night, but it was definitely worth it.

Got a new mood theme last night! Took me hours to upload all the pictures because my photobucket wouldn't cooperate. But I'm done, and it's pretty. I liked my Justin theme, but I was starting to get tired of it, so SPN now. :D

Also, I've got a few fic recs:

Title: Dangling On A String
Fandom: Supernatural
Author: [info]legoline
Rating/Warning/Notes: Gen. R. Deals with violence, torture and insanity.
Summary: It's been two years since Dean and Sam disappeared. When Ellen, Jo and Bobby find the brothers they're beaten, broken and perhaps, beyond hope.

It's heartbreaking, and wonderful, and full of angst and I'm in love with it.

Title: In From The Cold
Fandom: Supernatural
Author: [info]ladyjanelly

J2 AU where Jensen is homeless and a little crazy, and Jared works at a health clinic. Jensen shows up at the clinic one day, and things go from there. Guest starring an awesome Jeff Morgan. I'm only halfway through reading this fic, but so far I'm hooked.

And I'm sure there are other fics that I should be recommending, too, but they're lost in my ocean of tabs and windows. I'll find them later. For now, enjoy these.

My Dean playlist rocks. Over a hundred songs from the first two seasons of Supernatural, and so far it's gotten me through a bike ride, doing the laundry and the dishes, and I'm only twenty songs in. I need to get season three and four's music, too, so I can make it last forever!
Aaand now I'm off to watch Children of Earth Day Four cause I couldn't find it anywhere last night but it's up now. Comments later.
